Beechwood Consulting takes on projects of all sizes from a few hours sorting out someone's fiddly database problem to a few months building a complex web application. Take a look at some of our recent projects for examples of the sort of work we undertake.

It costs nothing to ask Beechwood for a quote.

Beechwood Consulting offers the following services:
  1. System Development: Developing new bespoke database systems in MS Access, SQL Server and .NET. New projects are normally built to a fixed price following an iterative process between our developer and the client normally conducted as follows:

    1. The client sends a requirements document outlining the core functionality that should be delivered by the new system.
    2. From the requirements document, Beechwood writes a version 1 specfication, which will act as a consultation document and will include an indicative price.
    3. If the approach and price are acceptable to the client, meetings etc will be arranged as necessary to finalise the detail of the specification.
    4. Once cost, functionality and timescale are agreed in a final version of the specification, development begins.
    5. The system is delivered and implemented as described in the specification.
    6. The system is supported free for 90 days following go-live. A Service Level Agreement agreed between Beechwood and the client defines the cost and conditions of ongoing support.

  2. System Modification: Fixing bugs or adding functionality to existing systems. Small fixes and modifications can often be turned round in a matter of hours.

  3. Data Cleansing/Conversion: Routines to remove duplicate records, tidying data, upgrading from earlier versions of Access and SQL Server. Conversion from Access to SQL. Scaling systems. Web enabling systems. Data export to exterior applications.

  4. Consultancy: Assessing requirements and advising on software solutions (bespoke and off-the-shelf), auditing existing systems.

  5. VAT Rate Change: Auditing existing systems for their capability to handle changing VAT rates (down to 15% 1 Dec 2008 and (proposed) increase to 17.5% at the end of 2009) and modifying systems where necessary.
