Microsoft Access

Our database developers cut their teeth on Microsoft Access back in the mid 1990s and with such considerable experience we can make it jump through hoops. If you attach value to your time, consider leaving your Access database problems to a professional!

We are often asked to modify existing Access databases. Due to poor initial design especially in the area of validation, many databases become compromised by invalid data. The data in such systems can be cleansed to re-enable meaningful reporting and validation routines introduced to maintain future data quality.

Access databases frequently need to be upgraded to later versions of Access often as a result of office-wide operating system or application upgrades. Access databases often convert to later versions without any problems but there are one or two pitfalls especially when converting from older 16 Bit Access Version 1 or 2 systems and, more recently, when converting to Access 2007. If your Access database won't upgrade or doesn't work properly after upgrade, contact Beechwood for what is likely to be the most reasonable quote to resolve the problem.

With the introduction of the new VAT rate of 15% on 1 Dec 2008, many businesses are experiencing problems with their IT systems and bespoke Access databases are among the systems affected. Even where the system does allow VAT to be adjusted and new invoices are generated correctly, you may find that reports or invoice reprints pick up the new rate where they shouldn't. Beechwood can offer a very cost-effective service to check existing systems for any such issues and to modify them where necessary.

Access' main limitations are with multi-user applications. If your organisation is growing or you want a database for the web, you may need to upgrade to a more powerful database, possibly MS SQL Server. Beechwood can help you convert your data and modify existing applications to access the new database.
